Which Sheet Mask is Worth your $

I have been using facial sheet masks consistently for a while. I used to do it once a week but really don't see any significant results. About 2 months ago, I started using one almost every day and see much better results.

There are a lot of sheet masks in the market. If I have to use one daily, I don't want to use one which is $10 each piece.

I have been using My Beauty Diary masks for years and to me, they are very affordable and still deliver. I got mine in Toronto. They sell them at T&T grocery stores and they always go on sale for about CAD $16-18 for 10 pieces. My favorite from the brand is the Hyaluronic Acid mask. My skin always feel so hydrated afterwards and still feel soft the next morning.

Mediheal Line Friends N.M.F. is my next favorite. They are available in a lot of Asian makeup stores in Toronto(e.g. in Pacific Mall in Markham) and also at T&T grocery store. They are pricier than My Beauty Diary brand. They range from $30-35 for 10 pieces. I got mine at Winners for $24.99. So look out for these at your Winners. I have used up the whole box of Aquaring Ampoule masks and they are quite good. I like the sheet is a bit thicker(not easily torn when applied) and the essence is soaked into the sheet and leave it on for 20 mins and after I remove the mask, I gently massage the rest of the essence to help skin absorb better.

Karuna Masks were birthday gift from my best friend in Hong Kong. They are available at Sephora and I am not sure if you can get them cheaper anywhere else. They are super hydrating and the sheet quality is much better than the other two mentioned earlier. But are they well-worth the buck? I don't see a significant result. I didn't use them daily to test out the full effect. I used them twice a week.

I finally found the Innisfree Second Skin Mask. Heard a lot of great review on this Korean brand mask and I got a few of these from Pacific Mall in Markham last week during March break. It is indeed like second skin. It is about CAD $8 each piece and it is well-worth your buck. I wouldn't use it every day(my wallet would suffer too much!!) but it would be awesome if I can use this at least once a week.

Since I love the Mediheal Line Friends masks, I was lucky to find a few more at Winners. I got the I.P.I. Lightmax Ampoule Face Mask

Tony Moly Black Tea Mask is about $6 each. I have tried the Tony Moly Gold Snail Hydro Gel Mask(check out my post in Feb empties). It is a very rich mask and I don't know if it is too rich or not for my skin, I breakout a bit after two uses. So I went for a more regular mask from the brand and picked the Black Tea mask. It didn't break me out fortunately but to me, it is still not worth the $.

Two other more affordable masks are Etude House Snail Mask and Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Mask-Rice. They are about $1.5-2 each. They are ok, nothing too spectacular but if you want to use one every day, these are not bad choices.

These are the ones I got and going to try this month.

Sheet masks price range is huge ranging from $1 to $15 per mask. Depending on whether you want to use them daily or use one to pamper yourself once in a while, I would suggest to stock up on affordable ones such as the Mediheal Line Friend brand to use every day. Would get a few more high-end ones like Karuna or IOPE Bio Essence ones to treat yourself once or twice a week.

YSL Volupte Tint-in-Balm(#4 Desire Me Pink)

YSL has launched a new lip product: Volupte Tint-in-Balm. They launched this new line earlier this year in Asia and finally we got it here in Canada.

I have swatched most of the shades in store. All the lighter shades are quite similar swatched on my hand. As this is more sheer and I am not sure about the pigmentation, I go for a brighter shade #4 Desire Me Pink which is a watermelon fuchsia shade.

Isn't this adorable? There is a lip-shaped heart in the middle which is the lip balm and the outside is the tint.

It is super moisturizing and glides like butter.

What it is:
A hybrid lipstick that combines nourishing balm care with glowing, sheer color for a hint of tint that enhances lip color.

What it does:
Voluptè Tint-in-Balm’s unique, dual formula gives your lips twice the benefits—plus, a signature, pomegranate scent. The lip-shaped heart that runs through the bullet is packed with conditioning lip balm ingredients like apricot butter and jojoba oil for deeply nourished lips. This lip-shaped core runs from top to bottom, so that it never runs out. The outer core of the lipstick provides a lasting kiss of tint, imparting glowing sheer color that’s both vivid and brilliant.

YSL lippies are such luxurious products. I have tried their lip stain, tint-in-oil, volupte sheer lipsticks and they are all very good. This tint-in-balm doesn't disappoint, except I find the tint doesn't really tint. As this is super moisturizing, the lasting power isn't really there. It only leaves a slight tint on my lips and I have to reapply this quite often throughout the day. But I am happy with the shade I picked. If you like at least some color pay-off, I suggest you pick either this shade or #`12 Try Me Berry. Other shades are very similar as they are so sheer.

Verdict: This is certainly a luxurious lip balm for CAD $42. Do you need this? Probably not. But for a lippy addict, I am  happy I have this in my collection. Do I need to run back and get some more shades? Definitely not. But I know this will become a stable lipstick in my purse as I love moisturizing lipsticks to take with me and I don't need a mirror to reapply throughout the day.

February Empties

Bath Products:
Lush Santa's Belly Shower Jelly
Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Wash

I got the Lush Santa's Belly shower jelly a while back and just finished it up. I love Lush shower jelly but this one texture is kind of different. Not sure if it is a bit old but the jelly just doesn't melt in the shower. Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange  shower gel is one of my all-time favorite from the brand. The scent is amazing.

Hair Products:
Batiste Dry Shampoo (Coconut Tropical)
Nioxin Scalp Treatment

Finished another of my regular dry shampoo, Batiste. I have tried many throughout the years and Batiste is still my favorite. Price is good and easy to get it at any drug stores. Even though it requires brushing after application to avoid white residue on hair. It doesn't make my hair feel gritty afterwards. Nioxin Scalp Treatment has been used together with their shampoo and conditioner. I have used a few of these and only noticed a difference when I first used it and don't seem to make a significant difference over continued use for prevention of hair loss.

Skincare Products:
La Roche Posay Anthelios
Sunday Riley Good Genes

I got Sunday Riley Good Genes in the Sunday Riley duo during the Sephora VIB sale last fall. I was really excited to use this as I finished up the sample size and have seen significant result in improving my skin texture and lightening of dark pigmentation. This bottle only last me 3 months which I am a bit disappointed as it is not cheap. After using it a while, I don't see much difference for the past few months. Still think it is a great product but will wait a while before re-purchasing.

Makeup Products:
Chanel Les Beiges No.02 Healthy Glow Multi Colour
Lioele AutoBrow
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown

I didn't really finish up the Chanel Les Beiges powder but used up a good chunk of it. I have had this for a few years and love this palette. However, it tends to crack in the middle of the pan and make a mess every time I use it. I have talked with a Chanel SA and she said the new formulation doesn't crack.

Sheet Masks:
Tony Moly Gold Snail Hydro Gel Mask
Karuna Age Defying Face Mask
Natureby Snail Essence Mask
IOPE Bio Intensive Essence Facial Mask

I got some new sheet masks to try. Karuna is a gift from my best friend. I got the Age-defying masks together with the Hydrating masks. I am very impressed with this brand and will repurchase after I am done. They are available at Sephora. Tony Moly is also a gift from my other friend. This is my first Tony Moly masks and it is very hydrating and since the mask comes in 2 halves, making it fit any face much better. But my favorite of the whole bunch is still the IOPE Bio Intensive Essence Facial Mask. This is the most hydrating out of these and you can certainly expect significant result after each use. Natureby mask is a bonus from one of my purchases from a Korean ebay seller. It is ok and nothing special.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Review

I have chapped lips all the time and constantly searching for a good lip balm or treatment so I don't have to reapply lip balm. My latest find is the Laneige Lip Mask.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask comes in a jar with a tiny silicone applicator. It has a blend mixture of strawberry, cranberry, raspberry and blueberry extract. I am a big berry lover and I just love the scent.

This lip mask reminds me a lot of Dior Creme de Rose. The texture is very similar. The Dior one is a little bit more "stiff" and the Laneige one is more "vaseline" and easier to blend. Dior Creme de Rose has been my favorite lip balm for the longest time but I am not a big fan of the hefty price tag. I have a blog post doing a comparison of my then three favorite lip balms.

I have been using this lip mask every night for the past week. This, along with my other favorite: Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm, are the only lip balm that would actually stay on my lips all night long and keep them hydrated. In the morning, I would still have a thin layer of the lip balm/mask left on my lips.

Laneige Lip Mask claims to hydrate, sooth and at the same time exfoliate for smoother lips. I agree with the hydration and soothing part but as an exfoliant, I am not sure. The cute little tiny applicator is quite handy. It is more hygienic if you don't want to stick your finger in the pot every time. It also gives a more even application.

I have tried a few products from Laneige and their Sleeping Mask is one of my favorite overnight hydration mask. This lip mask does not disappoint. But if you are looking for a miraculous lip treatment which would transform your lips overnight, it unfortunately does not. It keeps my lips very hydrated and I don't feel the need to exfoliate my lips throughout the week. The scent is amazing and yet not overpowering. It is not super sticky and it wears very comfortably on lips overnight.

Top 5 Winter Lipsticks

  1. Labiotte Wine Lipstick in RD01 Malbec Burgundy
  2. Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in Sellout
  3. Laniege Two Tone Lip Bar in #11 Juicy Pop
  4. Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet
  5. Bite Beauty Multistick in Almond

I love darker, vampy shades for the cold winter months. These have been my top 5 for the season.

Labiotte is a new Korean brand I discovered and have fallen in love with their lip products. Their lip tint is the most-hyped product and I have two of them. (see my review on RD02). That is probably one of the best lip tint I have used. It is very pigmented and does not dry out my lips. Staying power is super impressive but the application can be patchy at times and you really have to take your time to properly apply it. However, their wine lipstick is my go-to these days. It glides on smoothly and the shade I have RD01 is a gorgeous burgundy shade.

I like long-lasting lipstick as I hate re-applying throughout the day. Two more long lasting ones make my top 5: Too Faced Melted Matte in Sellout and Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet. Too Faced Sellout is a pretty mauve MLBB shade. Even though I am not a big fan of matte lipstick, this one doesn't dry out my lips. Sephora Cream Lip Stain is my favorite lip stain. Very affordable and I love to wear it whenever I know I will have a busy day and don't want to even apply mid-day. Blackberry Sorbet is one of their newest shades added to their collection.

When I want to go for a lighter, peachy shade, I go to Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar. #11 is a pretty peach/coral shade. This two tone lip bar is perfect to do a gradient lip. But if you are not a fan of those, you can just smack your lips together to mix the colors for a more natural look.

Last but not least is my new Bite Beauty Multistick in Almond. Love the shade and I am thinking of getting it in other shades. I mostly use this as a lipstick. But it can also be used as a blush or eyeshadow. I like to throw this in my purse for touch up. When I use it as a blush, I dab some product onto my fingers and then apply on cheeks. I don't like the idea of the multistick being used on lips and cheeks as sometimes, cheeks can be a bit oily.

February Favorites

My favorites this month include a few new loves I discovered.

Hera UV Mist Cushion is definitely my new favorite cushion foundation. Coverage is a little bit better than the IOPE one and much more hydrating, perfect for the cold winter months. Not sure if I would wear it throughout the summer though.

Another Korean brand favorite is Chosungah 22 Raybeam highlighter. I have other highlighters but always go back to this one. It is a pink shade which gives my cheeks a very subtle highlighting effect.

Ever since I got the highly-raved Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, I have been using it every single day. Coverage is great and doesn't budge if you set it with setting powder. Perfect to conceal blemishes and don't have to worry about it moving around throughout the day.

I got the Bite Beauty Multistick in Almond as a deluxe sample from Sephora. I have swatched a few different shades in store but not too impressed with them. I find them quite dry. But I guess it is drying out since it is a tester product. I got the shade Almond and I really love the lasting power of this. Also, it is great to carry in my bag as I can touch up as a lipstick as well as a blush.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Papa Don't Peach Blush has been my go-to blush for the past couple of months. You would think it is such an ordinary, nothing special peach shade. But it is very flattering on the cheeks.

Last one is Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner. I got it from the annual sale from Lush on Boxing Day. I love Snow Fairy scent and this body conditioner is perfect to apply as a hand cream as well as a body lotion. Very moisturizing and save my hands from being cracked.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your favorites this month?

Bag Shopping

I have been good in limiting myself from buying new makeup products. But my obsession of shopping made a turn in hunting for new handbags.

Have to admit there are a lot of good sales on after the holidays and it is hard to resist.

Michael Kors Selma Medium in Cinder
Michael Kors Mercer Medium Duffel in Cinder had a great sale two weeks ago and prices have since gone back up. I hate retailer who do that. If they go on sale, the sale price should stay like that unless for further reductions.

Selma medium is a classic at Michal Kors and each season, they come out with new colors and I picked Cinder which is a brownish taupe color which matches everything.

Mercer Duffel bag didn't grab my attention when I was browsing. It looks like my Louis Vuitton Speedy bag. But when I received my order, I fell in love with it more. The leather is very soft and durable. I am quite clumsy in handling my bags and often scratch the leather. This won't be the case.

Both bags come with long adjustable straps which I attach them at all times. When I go shopping and need both hands, it is so handy to have straps to wear on shoulders.

Picked this bag up from Browns Shoes. I saw this in store a while back and I don't have a lot of blue bags. I picked this one up to bring to work as I haul a lot and this one is big and roomy. Comes with same-colored zipped up pouch so I can put my wallet and keys in there.

After these few bags, I think I am good for a while for bags. I am the type who hate to switch up bags every day and usually use the same bag for weeks before switching them up. Do you switch up bags daily?
