FaceOffCloth Review

How many steps are there in your daily cleansing routine at the end of the day?

Mine includes eye makeup remover, cleansing oil and then a gentle cleanser with Clarisonic. Three steps do not sound like a whole lot but it usually takes me a good 10 minutes.

When I was offered to try the FaceOffCloth*, I was a bit skeptical. I am a total believer in totally removing makeup and would a face cloth without cleanser do the job?

I don't wear a whole lot of makeup on a daily basis. Usually concealer, foundation and a bit of blush. No eye makeup except waterproof mascara, a bit of brow gel and lipstick. I wet the cloth with warm water and then wipe my face. This is what it looks like from half of my face. I am a bit shocked to see how much makeup comes off with just gentle wiping. I didn't have to scrub it hard at all.

Does it remove all of my makeup?

I apply toner after the wash and this is what comes off on the cotton pad. Not bad at all!

My thoughts of FaceOffCloth:

Pros:
  • Quick and easy
  • Do not need cleanser
  • Cleanse and exfoliate at the same time
  • more environmentally friendly than using makeup wipes
  • perfect for traveling
Cons:
  • Cloth needs to be washed with soap after each use
  • do not remove makeup completely
Overall, I am happy with FaceOffCloth and amazed how effective it is. Would I replace it with my current cleansing routine? Not quite. But it is perfect for after a long day and you don't feel like going through the few steps to wipe off your makeup and you can hop into bed sooner.

Buxom 6 Degrees Below Sexy Mini Full-On Lip Polish Set

Holiday season is approaching fast. Yes, I know. Fall has JUST arrived and I am thinking about the holidays already. It is hard not to notice, especially when you are browsing online and all these holiday gift sets are popping up everywhere.

Picked up this Buxom 6 Degree Below Sexy Mini Full-on Lip Polish set from Sephora. It contains 6 mini sized lip polish. When they say mini sized, it is decent-sized to me. I love Buxom lippies and my last set  of minis lasted me a long time.

There are 6 lip polish in this set. You can keep them all to yourself or split them up for stocking stuffers.

These are highly glossy lip polish. They are minty and a bit tingly meaning to plump up your lips. Not super tacky and they last on my lips. Some of the shades look very sparkly and festive in the tubes but when they are applied, they are not so don't worry about turning your lips into disco balls.

Are you excited for the holiday makeup sets?

Lipstick Challenge: Different Lipstick Every Day for a Week

Of all the makeup products, I have a soft spot for lipsticks. I have a "shamefully-big" collection of lipsticks. But my problem is I often wear the same lipsticks over and over again while others are pushed to the side and often ignored.

I decided to take up a challenge and wear a different lipstick every single day for a week.

It has been really fun to "make" myself to choose a different lipstick every day. I notice a lot of my lipsticks are nude pink and a lot of them are very similar. Probably just myself would notice they are different which make me think hard into getting any more lipsticks for now. Or if I " have" to get a new lipstick, need to get something drastically different from what I have in my collection.

Do you tend to wear the same shades of lipsticks daily? Or do you wear something different to match your outfits?

It Cosmetics @ Sephora

When I heard It Cosmetics is coming to Sephora, I am super excited. For us Canadians, we can only purchase It Cosmetics products from their official website or the Shopping Channel.

If you have been following my blog for a while, you would know their Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer is my holy grail concealer (see my review post). Ever since I got that back in 2013, there is not ONE SINGLE DAY I don't use it.

I am beyond thrilled when I was sent two new products* exclusive to Sephora.

I have tried the Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Full Coverage Concealer. The shade I was sent is Medium.

Left: Illumination
Right: Regular

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination
Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer

Ingredients:
  • Hydrolyzed Collagen
  • Peptides
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Antioxidants
The regular version(right) is also in the medium shade. The illumination one is slightly lighter in shade and has a peach/pink tone to it. The formula is the same. You only need a tiny tiny dot for your under eye. That's why I love this concealer so much is a little tube would last you a while.

Illumination concealer was applied to one side of my face, guess which side?

It is very obvious that it was applied to my left side(right side on the picture). It really does illuminate and giving my under eye a brightening effect. It is indeed full coverage, just like the regular version. I always set my under eye concealer with Tarte Smooth Operator setting powder to make it stay put all day long. Also, it is a bit tacky when applied so the setting powder would take the shine away.

I haven't tried the Bye Bye Undereye Eye Cream. I am just waiting to use up my current eye cream before I  commit to start using this to test out its effect. So stay tuned for my upcoming review. The texture is a gel-like. Very light to the touch and not tacky. I have puffy under eye pretty much every single morning so excited to try this and see if it helps.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye eye cream
  • Smooths, Brightens and Depuffs
Anti-Aging & Skin-Loving
  • Copper
  • Blue Algae
  • Caffeine
  • Collagen & Peptides
  • Vitamin C
  • Cucumber
It Cosmetics is expected to launch on the Sephora.ca in the near future. They are available on the US website and there are a few products which are exclusive to VIB Rouge members. I can't wait till it is launched and try more products.

Have you tried any products from It Cosmetics? What are your must-haves?

Nivea Creme Care

Nivea has always been a special brand to me. I remember the unique blue round tin of Nivea Creme. The scent has remained the same throughout the years and scent is associated with memory and it certainly brings back fond childhood memories.

I was lucky enough to be selected to try these new products* from Nivea.

First up is Nivea Creme in the cute little tin. It is a rich moisturizer and it can be a bit rich for this time of the year. But I know I will keep the little tin in my purse for dry winter months.

Nivea All-in-One Facial Cleansing Lotion comes as a nice surprise. It is my first facial product from the brand. It is a facial wash, make up remover and also a moisturizer, all-in-one. I use this to clean my face and remove makeup and it does an amazing job, even my eye makeup. These days, I like my face wash to be gentle as I hate the striped-dry feeling after face being washed.

I quite enjoy the Nivea Protect and Care Anti-perspirant. The formula is free of alcohol and it is perfect to apply after shaving. It also has avocado oil so it is gentle and moisturizing.

Nivea Creme Care Facial Cleansing Wipes is in a small package, contains 7 wipes. Perfect for travel for its compact size. Even though it does have alcohol in it, it doesn't dry out my skin. It does a pretty decent job in removing my makeup but since I wear waterproof mascara, I prefer to remove my eye makeup first before using the wipes.

Last but not least is the Nivea 12 Hour Essential Caring Lip Balm. I don't know about the 12 hour claim but it does a good job.

I am quite impressed with the products from the new Nivea Creme Care line. When it is a well-known skin brand throughout the years, it is exciting to see they are constantly coming up with new products and they perform well.

Lipsticks in my Purse

I always have a selection of lipsticks in my purse. There are 5 of them which constantly made their way to my purse. My criteria for lipsticks on-the-go is easy application and hydrating. Often I don't have my compact mirror with me so I like lipsticks which don't require a mirror for application.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 94 Confident
YSL Nude in Private
Dior Lip Addict Glow

I got the Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar in Juicy Pop a month ago and it has quickly become my new favorite. When I first look at it and see the muted yellow, I wasn't too keen on the shades. But when it is applied, it is a beautiful shade. It is worn well as a gradient look and when I smack my lips together, it is a pretty coral pink shade.

Lancome Juicy Shaker is so much fun to use. Just look at the cute packaging and it is moisturizing. Lasting power is not too good but I don't mind re-applying it throughout the day.

Dior Lip Addict Glow is my luxurious lip balm. It changes color when applied on lips. I apply that on top of other lipsticks.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine is my first one of the formula and I love it so much. Hydrating and  yet pigmented. 94 Confident is more of a fall shade but I apply it year round. YSL Nude in Private is my first YSL lipstick and I have got a couple more from the brand. This is probably one of my most-used lipstick. More than half used which says a lot about how much I love this.

August Empties

Summer is gone and school will start next week. August has been hot and humid, making a challenge for my skin to break out more. If you have read my previous posts about my obsession of sheet masks, you would know I have tried a lot of new sheet masks this month.  There are certainly hits and misses for these sheet masks.

Hair Products:
Dove Refresh +Care Dry Shampoo
Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo

I use extra dry shampoo in the summer time. Batiste is still my go-to. Dove is also very nice. It doesn't leave an obvious white powder residue. It smell amazing and I often use that to freshen up my hair, especially being out in restaurants where food scents are extra strong.

Skincare Products:
Drunk Elephant  B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel
GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment
Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil
Clinique Clarifying Lotion
Effaclar Duo

Drunk Elephant hydration gel is a first product I try from the brand. It is a deluxe sample size I got from Sephora. It is very hydrating and perfect for the summer. Boscia cleansing oil is my favorite cleansing oil and this is my second bottle already. Effaclar Duo is also in my staple skin care routine. Can't live without that. GlamGlow Supermud Treatment used to be my go-to treatment mask. Whenever my skin is acting up, I spot treat with it and often it works miracles. This has to be my second or third finished jar. But this treatment is pricey and dries up quite fast. So I am switching up and trying out other products.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion was my first ever skin care product I was introduced when I was a teenager. Nice to use it again. It is a very effective toner. Might be a bit strong for sensitive skin at times though.

Makeup:
Chosungah22 C& T Blender Fresh Mix
Fresh Sugar Treatment in Petal

Chosungah22 C&T is my absolute favorite  makeup base/light coverage foundation. It gives my skin a healthy glow. Will always re-purchase this. Another staple is the Fresh Sugar Treatment. Even though it is a pricey lip balm, I always go back to that.

Skincare:
Lush Celebrate Hand and Body Lotion

Love this Lush hand lotion. It is a bit too heavy for the summer time. But I used that throughout the winter and it helps moisturize my hands immensely.

I tried out a LOT of sheet masks this month. I know I shouldn't be trying out so many different brands and types in such a short period of time but I was home in Toronto earlier and I hoarded a lot of them and wanted to try them out and wanted to get more if they are good while I was in the city.

I am not going into detail in every single mask. Dr. Jart Water Replenishment is very hyped up and I found it at my Winners at a discount(half price). It performs just as well as my cheaper alternatives so I don't think I would buy any more. Sephora Charcoal Nose Strip is quite amazing. Much better than the drug store Biore one.

Forencos 7 Days Masks - I didn't try all these all in one week. I did try them all within a two-week period. To me, they all perform quite similarly. I got another box of  Black Pearl Brightening as I find that most promising.

Candles:
Bath & Body Works Strawberry Vanilla 3-Wick Candle
Bath & Body Works Pina Colada Smoothie 3-Wick Candle

Both are amazing summer scents and not overpowering. Hope they will come back next summer.
