First ColourPop Purchase

I have heard of ColourPop for a long time but haven't tried any of their famous lippies. First, the brand is not quite as readily available to us Canadians. Second, when it is, the shipping cost is high, defeating the purpose of getting affordable and high quality products.

Right before their Black Friday sale, ColourPop offered free international shipping with no minimum purchase. I jumped for joy but was so overwhelmed to pick what to get. I know I wanted to try their famous lip products first and here is what I picked:

UltraSatin - Lock Diary
UltraSatin- Wink
Lippie Stix- Tiger

From L to R:
Lock Diary, Wink, Tiger

Lock Diary is from their Hello Kitty collection. It is an ultra satin finish liquid lipstick. It is a muted fuchsia shade, not a super bright shocking pink one so very wearable. The formula is, oh my goodness, as soon as I swatch it on my arm, I knew I am in love. So velvety, so smooth. Apply effortlessly on lips.

Got another ultra satin liquid lipstick in the shade Wink. It is a pinky plum shade. I am so into plum shades in the past few months for the fall/winter. Very pigmented and it is so easy to apply on lips. I have had liquid lipsticks which I can play around for 5 mins and still can't apply right. Either too much or too little product. These amazing ones from ColourPop are going to be my new favorites. I don't have to wait for it to dry to see if they move around on my lips. Once it is on, it is on.

Last but not least, is a lippie Stix Tiger. Since I am so into plum, I need this in my life. I apply this all over my lips. I have only tried it on with a lip balm underneath so I cannot say whether it is drying when worn alone.

After trying a few products from ColourPop, I now TOTALLY get the hype about the brand. It is affordable and the quality is there. Unlike your regular drugstore lippies, these would blow your mind and you would be in love as soon as you try them.

As for international shipping, I got my order about 7 business days after I placed my order. Not bad at all. They come well-packed in a secured box. I would certainly buy from them again and again.

Have you tried ColourPop? What are your must-haves?

Bath & Body Works Haul

Bath and Body Works had an amazing deal on 3-wick candles over the weekend. I was sooooooo tempted to put in my online order. But since I had stocked up quite a bit 2 weeks ago, I thought I'd better wait to use some up. I am sure they would have some Boxing Day sale.

I am obsessed with peppermint scents for the holiday season. I have had their Twisted Peppermint candle in the past and love it. But Peppermint Marshmallow is my first and I am so surprised I love this so much better than the regular Twisted Peppermint. The scent is not as sweet and it is a perfect combination of the Marshmallow Fireside and Twisted Peppermint. I highly recommend to pick up more for their upcoming sales.

Did you stock up on the Bath and Body Works 3-wick candles over the weekend?

November Favorites

Chateau Labiotte Wine Lipstick in RD01

November is a month I concentrate mainly on skin care products as it is cooler and drier and my skin is acting up.

First up is the Skin Inc. Deepsea hydrating mask. I love this stuff. It can be used as a mask or a moisturizer. For drier weather, my skin is feeling dehydrated and screaming for moisture. I find my regular night cream just does not cut it. I apply the mask overnight a few times a week and it helps bring back the hydration. My skin is acting up so bad this month. I mix in the Skin Inc. Licorice serum with the hydrating mask and find it really calms my skin down. The serum can be also applied alone with other moisturizer as well.

Next is my new lash curler from Surratt Beauty. I got it during the Sephora VIB Sale and have been using it every day. I kind of push my other Shu Uemura one aside. The curler has a firmer grip and since it is wider and curved more suitable for my eye shape, all my lashes can be curled at the same time and the curls actually stay put. Love this lash curler and if you have stubborn lashes like me, you have to get this.

Have been using the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream in the morning and loving it. It helps with depuffing my eyes. It is more of a gel texture and I find it not moisturizing enough to use it at night.

Lips are chapped and last month I have been trying out a lot of new lip products and that leave my lips so dried. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish save my lips. I use that a few times a week and it is a gentle lip exfoliator.

First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads were  included in a set I got a while back but never bothered to try. But I am so glad I did finally. Pads contain glycolic and lactic acids. They are very gentle and they don't irritate my skin. I usually use that a few times a week and before I apply serum treatment to help skin better absorb the serum.

RMS Magic Luminizer is my go-to highlighter. It is a very subtle highlighter and that works perfect for my minimal makeup routine. It just gives my skin some life and not over-the-top luminizer.

My favorite lipstick in November has got to be Chateau Labiotte Wine Lipstick in RD01(check out my blog post for a mini review and swatches). I have been obsessed with plum, wine lipstick for a while and this is the perfect fall lip color. I am very impressed with the formula and want to get other shades from the brand.

What have you been loving this month?

CoverGirl So Lashy & Intensify Me Eyeliner

Of all the makeup products, I am most picky about mascara. My lashes are straight and stubborn. Using a wrong mascara for me would be a disaster. As I can go out without much makeup but I always curl and apply mascara just to make myself look more awake.

CoverGirl has a new mascara: So Lashy *and just by looking at the wand makes me want to try it right away. I need a wand which has tiny little bristles so it can define my lashes more. Currently, I am using CoverGirl Plumpify. Both have a ball-like tip which I find extremely useful in applying mascara for inner lashes.

Compared to the Plumpify, So Lashy wand is much simpler. Plumpify claims to maximize lashes by 50x volume, extreme plump and lift. As much as I enjoy it, I find the brush is just a bit too bulky for my liking. Formula-wise, I find both pretty similar. Both don't clump up and hold up my curls quite equally. I like the little bristles of the So Lashy much better as they space closer together than the Plumpify one and better to coat my lashes evenly.

The Intensify Me Eyeliner *looks very interesting. It has duo-tip which you can create thin or thick dramatic lines. I got the intense black which is a true black. However, it requires so much effort in mastering the skills. Every time I want to do a thin fine line on one eye, it is ok. Then I forget to tilt the pen the other way to do the other eye and end up applying with the thick tip. I am sure if you consciously remember to flip the tip every time you finish doing one eye, it is ok. But who has the time? In addition, it smudges and it is not a pleasant look.

Of the two new products from CoverGirl, I definitely recommend the So Lashy Mascara. Happy to find a new favorite drugstore mascara.

Eden's Semilla Vitamin E & Jojoba Oil

Winter has definitely arrived. We had our first snow storm earlier this week with 15 cm of snow. I am not a winter person and what I don't like most is getting dry skin. My hands are so dry and sometimes cracked. I apply hand lotion constantly but I am looking for alternative ways to keep my skin hydrated.

I am new to using oil as I had the misconception of oil is messy, sticky and not for my oil-combination skin type. I thought applying oil on my face would make my face break out more by clogging pores. But it is actually the opposite. A good natural oil "tricks" your skin into thinking it has enough oil and would stop producing excess oil.

I was introduced to Eden's Semilla Vitamin E Oil *and Jojoba Oil * recently and have been testing out the 100% organic natural oil on my face, legs and hair.

  • Natural v Synthetic: Our Vitamin E (d-Alpha-tocopherol) oil is 100% extracted from plants naturally rich in Vitamin E. Natural Vitamin E has been proven to absorb more quickly and efficiently by the body than other synthetic types.
  • Pure Carrier Oil: The viscosity of pure Vitamin E Oil is thick and sticky. A blend of Eden's Semilla Rosehip & Jojoba Oil gives the oil the perfect consistency for easy application. Fast acting, absorbent and non greasy. 35,000 IU means the blend contains no less than 25% Natural Vitamin E Oil.

The bottles of oil come with droppers which make application so much easier.  Not the most effective dropper and whenever I use it, I have to get some kleenax standby as oil seems to leak out of the dropper too easily. Add a few drops of the vitamin E oil and use it alone as a moisturizer or add drops to your current moisturizer. The oil has a very faint scent and it is absorbed quickly into the skin.

I like the versatility of natural oil. You can use it on face, body and even hair. I apply a few drops to my towel-dried hair and find it helps revive my hair, making it look more "alive" and not as dull.

  • Best For Skin, Hair & Nails: Our Cold Pressed & Unrefined Jojoba Oil is naturally rich in vitamins and minerals making it the ideal choice for a multipurpose oil moisturizer. All round protection that benefits your body literally from head to toe.
  • Healthy More Radiant Looking Skin: Natural skin healing properties that helps to guard against skin irritation, inflammation, acne, dryness and chapped skin. Our oil is fast absorbing and non-greasy making it easy to apply and suitable for all skin types. Antioxidant and Vitamin E protection that can repair damaged skin cells and make skin firmer and more elasticated Ð Promotes the skins natural production of collagen helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and even scarring.

Jojoba Oil has minimal scent as well. This claims to help reduce visibility of scars, fine lines and wrinkles. I am using this for a few scars on my legs to see if it really makes a difference. I have only been using this for a week and will see if continued use would lighten the scar.

Another use I like with this Jojoba Oil is to apply it on cuticles and this I can tell really helps.

Overall, I am very happy with these 2 natural organic oil from Eden's Semilla. They are reasonably-priced and they are 100% natural and organic, making it safe to use even on sensitive skin. They will be great help to relieve winter dry skin and damaged hair. Do you have any remedies to help with winter dry skin?

Wine-tasted Lipstick - Chateau Labiotte Wine Lipstick

If you like wine and you are a big sucker for cute packaging, you HAVE to get this Chateau Labiotte Wine Lipstick. Not only this is the cutest lipstick packaging, it also performs well.

Twist open the top and you have this gorgeous lipstick. The color I picked is RD01 Malbec Burgundy. I think there are two lines of lipsticks for the brand: fitting and melting. Not sure what the main difference is. Think one is more moisturizing than the other.

I am starting to like more pigmented lipsticks. But the ones I have tried are usually matte and drying. This one is pigmented but also very comfortable on the lips. It leaves a tint on your lips after a while so even if the color wears off, I won't be left with a rim of leftover shade.

This is my second product from the brand Chateau Labiotte. Check out my post on their popular lip tint. Their lip products are made out of sepivinol which is wine extract. I have read some reviews that some people find the taste rather chemical-like. I don't find that at all. For both the lip tint and this lipstick, it taste a little bit sweet and does taste like wine.

I got both products from Korean ebay sellers and you can also get them from Amazon. They would make awesome stocking stuffers.

OOTD's from Zara

Ribbed turtleneck from H&M

Got a few fall items from Zara. Loving the new trend of oversized tops. When layered with a turtleneck, ready to conquer cooler weather.

Bracelet by Montana Silversmiths

This top has a stretched collar and cuffs. Interesting twist to your regular high-neck or turtleneck. The cuffs are quite long and wide. But I can pull them up to elbow length to make it work appropriate.

This lightweight coat is perfect for the fall. I don't have a lot of navy jackets. Easy to go with many outfits.
